Bylaw Changes: Michelle proposed to change the bylaws to align the CMQG calendar year with that of the national Modern Quilt Guild. She also proposed to add wording to the bylaws required for our 501(c)(3) tax status. The changes were unanimously approved by the guild members present.
Stars for Stephanie: We collected several more Stars for Stephanie (see February post for more information). Wendy will be shipping our stars to the Knoxville Guild before the April 18 deadline. Thanks to all who contributed!

Surveys: On April 14 two survey links were sent to members. One is the digital version of the Member Survey. Please fill this out even if you recently completed a paper version. Please fill out the parts about what you're able to share with the guild and what you'd like to learn. If you prefer not to be part of the Member Directory, please deselect the Yes box at the bottom of the survey.
The second survey is for Member of the Month. Help us all get to know each other better by filling out the questions. We'll select a few people to feature each month. Once you've been selected, you'll be asked to submit photos of your work. Be sure to include projects you've made in the past as we have a lot of new members who may not have seen them previously.
OHCraft Sew-In at Shawnee State Lodge: Kara shared that general registration for this event starts April 17. The sew-in will take place October 8 or 9 (your choice) to October 11. The cost of the sew-in includes lodging and all meals for the weekend. Plus you'll receive a great goodie bag and lots of time to sew! Join the OHCraft Facebook group for more information.

- Discussion: Should we sign up for a booth at the Mariemont, Loveland, or other craft fair this fall as a fundraiser for the guild? The proposal would have the member earning 70% of the sale of the items she made and the guild would get 30%.

Members brought their Flying Geese blocks using the Valori Wells fabric donated by Robert Kaufman Fabrics, and one lucky winner went home with all the blocks.

Education: Slice and Insert
Michelle and Ellen took at class at Quilt Con titled Slice and Insert taught by Jacquie Gering of Tallgrass Prairie Studio. They shared the technique at the meeting. (Members, check your e-mail for Jacquie's handout from Quilt Con with lots of terrific tips and tricks.)

| Cut your background fabric to larger than your finished size. Slice the fabric and sew in the insert fabric, making sure the insert fabric extends past the edges of the background fabric. Inserts 1-inch wide are a good place to start. |

| Square up your block, then make a second slice next to the first, if you like. |
|
| Or make a slice that intersects the first. Follow the tips in the handout for how to line up the pieces to sew them back together. |
|
| To mix things up, piece your insert fabric rather than use a solid strip. |
