March meeting minutes!

  • First meeting in the new space! Thanks to Sue for setting this up and working out such a great deal for us!
  • There will be refreshment sign ups each month for the following months’ meeting. For April’s meeting, please bring a snack or beverage to share if you feel so inclined!
  • Good luck to all who participated in the second Modern Quilt Guild Challenge!
  • Committee members, Heather is your leader! Call or email her if you have any questions. There will be time set aside in next month’s agenda to talk about your sub-committees, if interested. All talking points should be approved by Heather first.
  • Victoria addressed us about the program  line-up for the year. She is trying to set up a small program for our meetings (10-15 minutes), as well as a longer demonstrations at our Sew-Ins (mini-classes), and field trips/events outside of our meetings. She passed out a survey to poll interest in order to begin setting up a schedule. If you’d like your opinion heard or if you are interested in teaching a short demo, please contact Victoria at vicmil (at) 
  • Check out the Ohio Valley Quilter’s Guild website for classes for non-members; often with well-known teachers.
  • Textile Art Alliance is accepting submissions for Focus: Fiber 2011-2012. See their website for more information; Regional show juried by Dorothy Caldwell, entries due 4/30; exhibit will be at Canton Art Museum, Dec. 2, 2011-Feb.26 2012
  • If you’re interested in selling your handmade items at Crafter’s Marketplace (Pendleton Art Center), you can buy a table for $100/month. First Friday and Saturday of the month.
  • Show opening: Fibers: Celebration of Fiber Artists at the Kennedy Heights Art Center
  • Exhibition and contest at Chatfield College
  • Cherri House calling for charity baby quilts for the Headstart Program in Baltimore (needs 55 quilts immediately for boys and girls); requirements: 32 x 36 – 50x53
  • April Swap is a scrap swap! Bring a gallon ziplock bag full of useable sized scraps, and take a bag of someone else’s! Bring as many bags as you take!

April 13th Meeting and Swap Reminder!

Don't forget to bring a stuffed gallon-sized plastic bag full of your useable scraps!

Bring 1 bag - take 1 home!
Bring 2 bags - take 2 home!

We'll be exchanging them as well as playing with them in an activity with Victoria.
