IMPROV CHALLENGE!
We held our improv challenge at our May meeting. So many great quilts and quilty things were made!

Everyone's submissions were displayed and guild members voted on their favorites in three categories - best use of their Kona color, overall best choice, and best improv.

AND THE WINNERS ARE ....

Susan won in the BEST USE OF KONA COLOR category. Way to go Susan!

Check out this stunner! The bottom right edge is CURVED! Holly won BEST USE OF IMPROV with this beauty. Congrats Holly!

Rachel won the prize for OVERALL BEST CHOICE! Her quilt is absolutely gorgeous! And this is only the THIRD QUILT Rachel has ever made. WOW! Congrats Rachel!

Here are some other photos of the work submitted for the contest:

News & Announcements

The Hamilton County Fair has reached out to our Guild asking if one of us would like to organize the Fair's quilt show. If you are interested contact Ellen2.

We are participating in the Modern Quilt Guild Quilt Con Charity Quilt Challenge - the theme is scale - and members chose an Ohio star black. If you'd like to help build this quilt contact Ellen1.

Bee Blocks!

Christine's Happy House blocks were presented to her:

Annie's Wonky Log blocks were presented to her:

For the MAY bee blocks, Shonna requested hive members to make Dice and Slice blocks and Tara requested EPP hexies!

Show & Tell!

Kay wanted to get over her fear of zippers so she tackled making the Sew Together bag, with success!

Kay made a folded clutch using fabric that was her mother's. She remembers her mother had made a dress out of the fabric.

Christine made this stunning quilt for Quilt of Valor.

Abby showed the progress on Kara's quilt from last year's Round Robin project. Kara's original quilt was lost, so her robin quilters are graciously re-making it for her - awesome!

Amy made this mini feather quilt.

Hive TWO for May: Shonna's slice and insert blocks

For Hive TWO for May, Shonna is asking bee members to make her slice and insert blocks - by chopping the block up and putting it back together with black lines.

She's asking that you do not use solids or kid prints. Iron and cut four scraps of to 11X11 inches. Slice them, then put them back together. She provided the black fabric.

Hive ONE for May: Tara's Hexies

For Hive One for May, Tara would like her hive members to make hexie flowers, and she even supplied the fabric - Tula Pink Moonshine, ooolala!

She's asking her hive members to use the 1 inch hexie template she provided and either make three 7-hexie flowers, or one large hexie flower.
