Steam Carpet Cleaning Equipment Do you
know what type of equipment your carpet cleaning company is using. In this
article, we will discuss the most common types of carpet cleaning
equipment. While it is true that a quality carpet cleaner can do a good
carpet cleaning job with any piece of equipment, it is still nice to know
what your cleaner is using in your home.
Truck Mount Carpet
Cleaners
A truckmount carpet cleaning unit is just
that, a machine mounted in the truck. The technician will bring hoses from
the truck into your home and all of the machinery will remain outside your
home. They might hook up to your water supply or they may carry tanks of
onboard water. There are three types of truck-mounts.
Slide In Truck Mounts
Slide in truck mounts will have their own
engine that powers the unit. The engine will drive a blower or vacuum pump
that provides suction and will turn a water pump that provides water
pressure. The machine will have heat exchangers which use the machines
heat to heat the water. These machines can vary greatly in size. It might
be powered by anything from a 10 Horsepower 2 stroke engine to a 200
Horsepower engine similar to that in your car.
PTO Truck Mounts
PTO or Power Take Off Units are powered by the
truck or vans engine. They may use a belt, shaft or even a hydraulic
system to transfer the power from the trucks engine to the unit. Once the
power is there, it functions the same as a Slide In Unit. It will have a
vacuum blower, water pump and will use the trucks cooling system to heat
the water.
Electric Truck Mounts
An electric truckmount can operate in two
different ways. It might have electric vacuum motors and an electric water
pump or it might have an electric motor powering a traditional truck-mount
vacuum blower and pump. To heat the water, the unit might use propane or
an electric heater.
Portable Carpet
Cleaners
A portable hot water carpet cleaner will have
the vacuums, water pump, fresh water reservoir and waste tank together in
one unit. The technician will usually bring the whole unit into your home.
They will either use the customers hot water or will have an electric
water heater. |
